We’re really pumped to be the special guests tomorrow night on Boston Emissions!  Anngelle was one of the first people to spin a TFE song on the radio so this is really exciting for us.  You can tune in to 100.7 FM if you are local to the Boston area or for everyone else out there you can stream it online here.

CMJ Music Marathon 2012 RECAP

Tuesday, November 6th, 2012

We are super-excited to have performed in this year’s CMJ Music Marathon. Huge thanks to Berklee College of Music for inviting us to play and to QRO Magazine for coming to the show to photograph our performance. What an amazing weekend!

After a quick stop over at Mama Nero’s house in Connecticut for a good night’s sleep and amazing home cooked meals, we were off to NYC!! We picked up our CMJ Artist badges, and embarked on an interesting quest for parking (our van is big).  Then we made our way to the Bowery Electric to catch the Outlaw Roadshow, presented by Ryan’s Smashing Life. It was a fantastic collection of awesome Boston artists. We were especially excited to catch our good friends Mellow Bravo, who absolutely rocked the room. We caught a few sets before trekking over to Chinatown to grab the van. Soon after, we arrived at 92Y Tribeca for our CMJ showcase, presented by Berklee College of Music. It was a fantastic show: there was a great crowd, a nice bar, and a stellar bill full of awesome bands (Golden Bloom, Bent Knee, Gina’s Picture Show, and more).  QRO Mag came out to catch our set and they captured some awesome moments on film. Check out the shots!

Just a quick update while I sit at Mama Nero’s (Nick’s Mom) kitchen table as she cooks the most delicious smelling pancake breakfast for us vagabonds.  Today we play the 2012 CMJ Music Marathon in New York City!  We would not be more pumped about this opportunity.  You can get all the details on our showcase here, which is FREE to Berklee Alumni, CMJ Badge Holders and $10 for the general public.  Things kick off at 6:30PM and we’re up first so get there early!  In the meantime…here is a picture of some wild turkeys I took this morning.

MP3 of the Week – Single Release!

Thursday, August 16th, 2012

If you happen to pick up a copy of The Boston Phoenix over the next two weeks, you may notice some familiar faces atop the magnificent 30th page, as our brand new single, “Ogunquit, ME” has been selected for this issue’s MP3 of the Week!

Considering the magnitude of this honor, we’ve decided to officially release “Ogunquit, ME” as a teaser for our upcoming full-length album! The song can now be streamed and, for the time being, downloaded from our Bandcamp and Facebook pages (for you hi-res enthusiasts)… as well as from the Phoenix web article! (MP-thrizzle)

Or you can listen from the comfort of this very page!! :

In the Phoenix write-up, Michael Marotta was kind enough to mention our upcoming show a TT the Bear’s Place. A CQ Presents event, we’ll be sharing the stage with The Devil’s Twins and The Sour Doo-Dahs! Get your tickets here!

Press, Mixing, and NYC!!

Sunday, July 1st, 2012

Ahoy!

It’s been great days for The Field Effect lately. Following the great writeup by the magnificent Richard Bouchard of Boston Band Crush that appeared in The Boston Phoenix last week, we’ve been getting some attention and some really great show offers that we’re very very excited about.

This upcoming week is bound to be a fun one as well. We’re celebrating the 4th of July the only way we know how, by locking ourselves at Zippah Recording for two days to mix a few more tracks for our upcoming full length release. After that, we’re heading to New York City for the weekend, for some vintage guitar shopping and some waffle eating at the household of the Grandparents Orey. More importantly, we’re super excited to be playing The Bitter End on Friday night as part of the CBGB Festival!!! We go on at 7:30 (sorry, I know that’s Jeopardy time for most of us), and the show is only $5, that’s like getting a free beer!! If you’re in and around the NY area Friday, we’d love to see you. Check out the event details here.

Post of Awesome

Monday, June 11th, 2012

The last week or so has been pretty awesome in the TFE realm.  We have officially moved into The Field Effect Fortress of Fun at Studio 52 and couldn’t be more stoked.  Seriously you guys, it has 3 rugs, 2 couches a coffee table and our very own fake potted plant.  Perhaps…we’ll throw a secret house warming show there soon.  Stay tuned.

Last night we play a really fun show at Church with Align In Time and Evan Miller.  Thanks so much to everyone that made it out, it’s much appreciated.  Speaking of shows…We’re playing the 5th Annual Harvard Square Make Music Festival this weekend!  FREE SHOW IN HARVARD SQUARE.  We’re on around 8:30PM at Deguglielmo Plaza – (Located in front of Crema Café at 27 Brattle Street ) – Check out the full line-up here.  So much music happening all around all damn day.  It’s going to rule!

So last night we were hanging around at Church enjoying the dudes from Align In Time bring some serious instrumental rock…when tweet went out that “Kurt Vonnegut” was being played on Boston Accents on WFNX!  It was sort of like that scene in That Thing You Do when all the dudes freakout because they hear their song on the radio…only we were at a show and couldn’t hear our song on the radio.  It also appears we’ll be getting some blog love from The Phoenix this week as well!  Shit y’all we’re so stoked.  Now look at this picture:

What's up Will Wheaton!?
